At least, it seems, Peter Thiel has given up on his seasteading dreams: https://www.businessinsider.com/peter-thiel-seastead-dream-floating-city-2017-1. Maybe he realized that ocean water would soon be too corrosive for large barges? Maybe he reconsidered the possibility that the air would be unfit to breathe? Or maybe he just wants to live underground now.

Whether one wants to have the "Opportunity to experiment with new governance" or you have a "desire to pioneer a new way of life" or even if you have a "preference for small communities" it seems seasteading could be an option for anyone that can afford up to $1,000 per square foot! (might as well live in San Francisco)
