Sometimes I listen to Jonathan Van Ness’ podcast Getting Curious With Jonathan Van Ness and recently I listened to an episode that related to some of the anxieties around technology that we have discussed in class. In this episode, JVN talks to NYU Associate Professor, data journalist and AI researcher Meredith Broussard about her book Artificial Unintelligence: How Computers Misunderstand the World. In their conversation they bring up issues of bias and technological objectivity, especially as it relates to racism in AI. It echoes the discussions we’ve been having, so I think it’s worth checking it out. It’s an easy listen:
