Screenlife: the future of film?

As a part of SCA's "10 Yeas of Blumhouse" screening series, I re-watched Unfriended (2014), where everything unfolds during a Skype call and we watch it through a computer screen. I was curious about the production process and I found out that the film's producer, Timur Bekmambetov, actually developed a software called Screenlife to make films like this - which he also utilized when producing Searching (2018). I watched the following video of him explaining the software and talking about how this is a way to tell stories with a lot of potential for the future of the film industry. It's interesting how he attributes value to this new form of storytelling by associating it to how we already spend so much time navigating our days and personal irl stories through phone and computer screens.
